Babysitter ClassesAmerican Red CrossThe American Red Cross provides excellent babysitter training. The course is designed for 11-15-year-olds. It covers safety, activities, and getting sitting jobs. You can read the Red Cross's Babysitters' handbook on their site. The Red Cross address is here but you will have to call them for scheduled classes as they are not posted on the Web. The Red Cross also offers an excellent safety checklist for sitters.Richland County Public LibraryCheck out the Young Adult Happenings Page for scheduled classes or give your local branch a call to find out when the next babysitting class will be. The classes are free.Palmetto HealthPalmetto Health offers periodic Safe Sitter courses. The course is a 2-day course and the fee is $40. To find out more, visit the Palmetto Health Web Site or call 296-2273. The Palmetto Health course is endorsed by the American Society of Pediatrics.Other ResourcesThe library offers many books and videos on babysitting instruction. If you can't attend a class, you can get started learning the basics on your own. |
