Riverbanks Zoo- Lights Before Christmas

Congaree Vista Area. A candlelight tour of historic district shops, galleries and restaurants while enjoying performing arts and visual art exhibits. Free 738-1499

Festival of Trees

SC State Museum, benefiting Children's Hospital of Palmetto Health. Preview black tie gala, Gala Fri 8 pm. includes food, band and auction. $$ 434-2823 Sat 10 am-5 pm, Sun 12 noon-4 pm, (bidding stops at 3 pm) A silent auction featuring more than 200 decorated holiday trees and wreaths. Special activities for children including photos with the "Real Santa" and a Mascot Parade. Free 434-7275

Recycle your Christmas Tree

Have your Christmas Tree ground into useful mulch! The Annual Midlands' Grinding of the Greens will take that tree off your hands and turn it into something good for the environment.

The Grinding of the Greens is sponsored by Keep America Beautiful of the Midlands. For more information, call 733-1139. Dates: Saturday, December 26 through Friday, January 11

You can pick up free mulch at the Clemson Rd, Honeywell, and Par Tee sites on Saturday, January 12. The mulch giveaway starts at 9:00 AM and lasts until the mulch is all gone.
