Located adjacent to Chapin Elementary School and Chapin Middle School, it features a large gymnasium, an excellent playground, ball fields, paved trails, and a disc golf course. They offer many programs and sports lessons.
Crooked Creek Park was opened and dedicated on Sunday, Nov. 20, 1994. The park is on a 57-acre tract adjacent to Chapin Elementary and Middle Schools. It contains a 50,000-square-foot community center and a double gymnasium. A running track, exercise areas, and two racquetball courts are available. The outdoor area features three baseball fields, three soccer fields, tennis courts and a jogging trail. The park also has a playground and picnic area. Crooked Creek Park offers athletic, cultural, educational, social and recreational opportunities throughout the year for all ages.
There is always something happening at Crooked Creek. Summertime is filled with athletic and special interest camps for youth ranging from acrobatics to wrestling. Special events throughout the year include Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Valentine's Dinner Dance; Senior High Ski Trips; Chapin Celebrates the Arts, a springtime amateur and professional juried art show, highlighting artwork of Chapin residents; 5K Fun Walks and Runs; Tennis Tournaments; Youth Track & Field Meets; Halloween at the Park -- providing Chapin's elementary school-aged goblins with tricks and treats along the outdoor walk/jog trail and old-fashioned fun and games inside for those afraid of the dark; Youth Turkey Shoot; and Christmas surprises, including phone calls from Santa himself. The park offers a well-rounded program for senior citizens and an after school program and Summer Safari program for the kids.
To get there, take I-26 to exit #91, then go south on Columbia Ave for 2.9 kilometers into the town of Chapin. Turn left onto Old Lexington Highway and go about 3 km. The park entrance is on the right.
