What is Columbia4Kids?
Columbia4Kids was created to fill a need for a comprehensive online directory for families in the Columbia, SC area. While there were several online directories aimed at tourists or people who are relocating, there wasn't just one place a person could go on the web to easily find out what to do with children. Columbia4Kids is aimed at the relocating family, the visiting family, and the families who have always lived here but forgot how many fun things there are to do!
Who Started Columbia4Kids?
Scottie Claiborne was a busy mom working a full-time job in 2001 who just didn't have time to read the paper or watch the news. When she tried searching for stuff to do with her kids on the weekends, she came up with nothing. Often, she found out about things like Kid's Day or the Christmas Parade after they had passed and she wished she had a resource or a reference to help her keep up with events for the kids.
When she ended up staying home with her third child, she thought life would get more organized, but it didn't! She still didn't have time to keep track of all the things she wanted to see and do with the kids.
So, she started Columbia4Kids.com as a way to help her own family get organized and find classes, events, park information, and family-friendly businesses.
Our Great Team
Columbia4kids is updated and maintained by a mix of volunteers and part-time staff who are enthusiastic about keeping a great resource for parents up to date. We also have many sections of the site to which anyone can submit updated information - churches, schools, businesses and local organizations can add their own events and happenings for free. This collaborative effort helps us to promote more things for parents and kids in Columbia to do together!

Columbia4Kids was created to be as comprehensive as possible to be truly useful to local families. Our reviews and recommendations are our opinions- reviews can't be bought. This site is all about parents helping other parents by giving their opinions. We hope to have a voting feature added in the near future to create a ranking system for every entry.
Our Commitment to Local Businesses
We want to be the online community page for families in Columbia and help businesses to use the Internet to reach local customers. Users can voice their opinions on local businesses and services as well as pass along tips to each other using our discussion boards.
